Personal Decision Making Reflection Essay (2000 words)

Personal Decision Making Reflection Essay (2000 words)

This assessment requires you to engage in a critical reflection of your personal decision to study postgraduate studies at University of Newcastle.

Using academic essay format, firstly, you are required to succinctly summarize the factors that led you to your decision to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Newcastle.
Secondly, apply and synthesize relevant academic theories, models and frameworks presented in this course to identify key causative and symptomatic decision-making issues that arose in your decision summary and
evaluate why the identified key causative and symptomatic decision-making issues arose
(Note: avoid extensive use of the theories you have already written about in previous assignments in this course)
Finally, you are required to reflect upon how you might have dealt these issues differently if, at that time, you had been exposed to the academic theories, models and frameworks covered in this course.
The paper is to be written in an academic essay format.
Due to the reflective nature of your academic essay, first person narrative style is suitable. Although first person narrative is suitable you still need to write in a formal and objective academic style (see page 47 in the student manual).
See the student manual for help with writing academic essays, APA6th referencing and academic writing. In particular you may find the following sections helpful –
• Causative (macro) issues and Symptomatic (micro) issues, in the section on Case Studies, page 65 onwards
• Reflective writing, page 57 onwards
• Academic Essays, page 61 onwards
• Referencing, including APA6th formatting, page 27 onwards
• Researching, page 16 onwards
